On my first trip to Provence, I discovered olive oil-based products for skincare about 15 years ago. These soft, hydrating creams were my favorite, but they weren’t easily available in the U.S. Even though they’re more common, it can be difficult to find truly organic, natural olive oil products. I was delighted to find Olivespa a product of Queen Creek Olive Mill in Arizona.

What is Olivespa
Olivespa is a line of all-natural olive oil-based skincare products that was created by Brenda Rea, a mother of five children and co-owner at Queen Creek Olive Mill. Her daughter Joanna Rea also operates the company.
Olivespa, founded in 2013, is relatively new. QCOM has been a favorite in Arizona for many years (producing the only extra virgin oil in the state) and Brenda’s skincare products have been used by family and friends since decades. Recently, the company sent me some samples of their products for testing and I’m excited to share these with you.

Why Olive Oil Skincare Products?
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is rich in antioxidants and Vitamins D, K, and E. It is a great skin protector, especially in today’s harsh climate, particularly in the Southwest, where there is little humidity. The skin can become very dry.

Olive oil can be used to treat many skin conditions, such as acne, eczema, and diaper rash. Olive oil may also protect skin from harmful UV rays.

Olivespa products contain a variety of natural ingredients, including EVOO (extra virgin olive oil), beeswax and aloe butter. They may also include therapeutic grade essential oils. These products are ideal for those with sensitive skin or allergies because they do not contain any parabens or phthalates. They also don’t contain alcohol, mineral oils, sulfates or formaldehyde.
I Love The Products I Love
I was given a beautiful selection of products to choose from and decided on a few to try. I love the lip balm. I got the pink grapefruit and will definitely order more. I want to try tangerine and vanilla bean. The scent is subtle, and it’s the smoothest lipbalm I’ve used. Because of the dry climate in Arizona, I use a lot more lip balm.

The lip balm is made with olive oil, beeswax and coconut oil. It also contains essential oils. The lip balms are priced at $3.50 per piece, which I believe is a good price and would make great stocking stuffers.
I also tried the orange blossom body lotion. The scent is subtle and not overpowering, which I find important.

I expected a thin consistency and was therefore surprised to find it quite thick. It was almost like a salve. It is still a great product. The $20 price is very reasonable because I only need a small amount to cover my forearms and hands. It’s probably less than an eighth teaspoon. It hydrates without leaving my skin feeling oily or greasy. It absorbs quickly enough that I am able to type or use the touch screen of my phone with no problems.
Body butter is made with shea butter and essential oils.
